Neuropsychology is the study of brain-behavior relationships. The brain is a complex and beautiful organ. With approximately 100 billion neurons, it directs our body's internal functions, and integrates sensory impulses and information to form perceptions, thoughts, and memories. Your brain is one component of your central nervous system (CNS).
The CNS is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The brain controls most of the functions of the body, including awareness, movement, thinking, speech, and the five senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling. The spinal cord is an extension of the brain and is made up of bundles of nerve fibers. Spinal nerves connect the brain with the nerves in the body and carry messages back and forth between the brain and the rest of the body.
Your brain is uniquely yours. By understanding your past, your goals for the future, and your brain’s strengths and weaknesses, you can plan for your best life. CNS staff are here to guide you on a process of self-discovery and self-determined wellness.
